increase idle rpm.

increase idle rpm.

i usually try not to ask questions without looking - but I have searched for quite a bit and I cant find a decent answer to my question:

is there a way to increase the idle rpm? i have a carpc running that stalls/shutsdown if I idle at a traffic light for more than 20 seconds... I have a new optima yellow top running.

I can only pull the throttle wire so much and is definitely not enough to get my rpm a little over 1k.

its current at around 850-900rpm and I would like to bring it up to 1100.

could anyone please help? thank you.

Are you saying you have a Carputer in your car that shuts down when you idle?
Maybe I can help. I've had a Carputer in my Solara for almost 2 years now with no problems. How is it being powered?

Yeah I'm still running a Laptop and I power it from a Carnetix power regulator so I'm not familiar with the Opus. Are you having any other electrical issues? Dimming headlights, dash lights etc.. Maybe your alternator is dying or over taxed. Do you have a serious audio system?

i know my alternator is dying. im selling the car in like 6 months for dirt cheap .. so i dont wanna bother putting in a new one (i was initially thinking one from a highlander but whatev)

anyways .. yeah it is most likely the alt - cause i see dimming lights sometimes..

increase the idle would make me happy for now...

more like a bandaid ..

there's a throttle adjustment screw- it's hidden behind the butterfly on your throttle cable...you have to use an allen key to turn it and then adjust the nut on it

it changes your base idle rpm by not allowing your throttle cable to fully slacken by the butterfly going back to its fully down position

Or you can just tighten up the throttle cable to keep the revs up.

i will try the throttle adjustment screw.

i tried tightening the throttle cable - but it just doesnt do enough to bring the rpm up as much as I want. (+200)
