Well the weather was forecast as mostly sunny, temp in the low to mid 60's so I thought I'd drive the old Solara to work. About ten miles from the house my damn CF hood blew open and slammed into the windshield. Scared the crap out of me and the wife at 5:05 in the morning. Well I nursed her home, rope holding the hood on, windshield shattered and we took the other car to work. My first damage to the Solara.

Man I'm not a happy camper right now. :(

Sorry to hear that! I'm glad you didn't go off road with it and you're both OK.

First damage? Didn't you have a major engine meltdown before you moved to AZ? (Sorry to bring up bad memories) My point is, in comparison this is pretty minor. Does insurance cover any of this? I believe you hit a major bump in the road, right?

I sure wish I knew. I had hood pins and I've never had a problem with the hood latching or the pins locking.

In the shop on Wednesday. I think I'll have a little additional custom paint done while it's getting fixed.

Thanks for the support.

Sorry to hear about that.

Did you have the stock pneumatic hood lifters?

Some have reported that they are too strong for a CF hood.

Thanks.

No I did not have the OEM hood lifters they are way to stiff for CF hood.
