allingment question

allingment question

Postby kaarona1 » Sat Jan 27, 2007 11:13 am

I need to get an alingment after replacing my rear strut and mounts, but now i need to replace my rear control arm and sway bar busings. My question is should I wait until I replace the busings to get the alingment, or is an alingment not necessary after busing replacement?

Thanks

Reason and logic would stipulate that you got "whatever" chassis, drivetrain, or suspension related work completed BEFORE you do the alignment.

(Although I don't suspect the bushings... if you are meaning the rubber/polyuerethane bushings... will have a notable impact on alignment. That having been said, the logic above still stands, in that I am not 100% certain, and obviously, neither are you, since you ask the question.)

Let me ask this, is there a reason why you "can't" wait until after the bushing are replaced? (Such as, it will mean two trips to the shop, or something... or the bushings are yet to be ordered... etc...)

Doesn't impact the logic in the end, but explains why you would NOT want to wait until after the bushings are replaced...

Yeah, that's right, (to all the "superfluous post" Nazi's out there...), I had my 5 cups of coffee already today... :shocked!:

depending on where you live, see if you can purchase a lifetime alignment.

on the west coast, we have discount tire and they offer that program.

just bring your car in whenever you wish for it to be aligned

Here is a link for Poly bushings. http://www.suspension.com/toyota.htm

I have not ordered the bushings yet and I have an alingment appointment for next Saturday. Discount Tire does not do alingments here either.

The removing the sway bar to install its bushings will not affect your alignment settings; however, removing and replacing the rear control arms to install those bushings will definately affect the setup of both your rear toe and camber. If you are doing this soon, I would wait on the alignment.
