My friend just got a 01 toyota solara (i-4) and i have admit his has this shaking sound everytime he rev's his car. What is the cause of this? Can anyone help?

...on the OTHER hand... does he have that "OPTIONAL SHAKER INTAKE" in the HOOD? (Like the old Hemi's did, back in the day... :o )

Doesn't sound GOOD, anyway... motors shouldn't "SHAKE".

5sfe's aren't the smoothest i4 toyota engine. I know cus' i've owned a few!! When you say 'shaking' sound....this easily begs me to ask:
1. What milage?
2. How long owned?
3. what maint done since owned? (known main done by previous owner??)

Just like everyone says more details will help us help you diagnose the problem easier. But if anything clean the throttle body and seafoam it. It should help but might not cure the problem unless its completely something different like engine knock, tranny mount damaged, or a few other things.

Tin can sound- The cams tapping on the valves under pressure. Motor isnt powerful enough to over come it and give instant power so you get that sound.

Vibration-Under full load Exelleration your car is under heavy stress with lots of tq. So it vibrate.

Just shaking- Cars probably too fast for you so your the one shaking..
