......... on my wifes 99 solara with 90k miles. I initally thought it was the brake pads being worn down and when I pulled the tire off, they looked ok. The rotor was still smooth. When you hit the brakes it really grinds. No clicking sound at all. Thanks in advance.

It needed new brakes after all!

The rotor was ok on the outside. Upon further review, the inside brake pad was down to the the metal. I thought it was a major problem, but all it needed was a brake job.
We opted for the Carquest gold pads again which are their premium ceramic pads. They dont generate as much brake dust. But they were expensive at $42 for the fronts only. Plus $20 to get the rotors turned.
We used these pads last time and got 45k miles out of them. My wife does mostly city driving.
