Power Steering Pump problem

Power Steering Pump problem

Postby wanfish » Sun Apr 20, 2008 10:21 pm

My mechanic asked me to replace the power steering pump ,he said it could only be replaced ,and the new one cost around 500 from dealer ,250 for a used one . plus labour . Otherwise it may cost 2000 to replace the whole steering system .

I went to Ebay ,find a used one for 2000 solara ,but did not mention the V6 or L4 . My baby is 99 V6 SLE .

Does anyone knows the price for a new or used pump ? dose Solara use the same pump as camry ?

thx

the new one does cost about that much from the dealer....but a used one should cost a good bit less than that. you can try calling your local junkyards- try standard auto, dom's etc. if they don't have it, they may be able to look one up for you

ebay would be even cheaper than either option of course. I picked up a used one for my camry for 30bucks. 20 was for shipping (but this was shipped to nyc, not to mississauga)

as for which one you need, I'm not too sure, but it may be i4 and v6 specific...only because they may mount up a bit differently...never really thought about it though.

and the one from the camry is the same one as the solara.

I dont think you would have to replace the whole powering steering system. Typically its just the pump.
