- Shaking is probably a wheel balancing issue.

- 225/50/17 would be closest to the stock size

- 5w-30 synthetic is fine

The other two I really have no idea.

For the grill part you could buy an aftermarket grill (renova). Look way better then stock.

And you are?

Had my wheels balanced the other cause of the same shaking in the steering wheel. My guy took one of the weights on the pass front and moved it 1/4". That's all it took.

All the Gen1 Solara has the peeling problem on the emblems/grill.

I bought a new grill last year from the dealer, cost me $200.
Still nice and chrome.

Renova grill is cool, but I didn't want a "racing" look, I prefer the luxuous look like a Lexus than a sport car.

I have also the shaking problem with my summer tires.. I will balance them and use them for another year or go buy some new Falken tires...don't know yet..

First of all, welcome!

As your grill problem, that is normal. For me what I did, is sanded the grill down and pulled off the Toyota emblem in the center, then painted it black, to match my car. Painted the logo, put it back on then replaced it on the car. Looks great, goin on 7 months.

I too had the wood issue, Its from the sun and heat baking the trim and making it fall apart basically. I just sanded mine down a bit around the edges and painted it all black. I don't like wood trim so it worked out fine for me.

As for motor oil, I use Castrol Syntec 5w-30 "Fully" synthetic, with a Mobil 1 oil filter. I'm assuming you have a V6.

The wheel shaking and tire questions I don't have an answer for you, sorry.

Regarding the center console wood trim, Are these the sticker type? The 2000 Solaras did not come with the center console in wood trim. The only wood trim that the Solaras come with are those that goes along the door and around the dash. Nothing in the center console These are aftermarket parts.

Anyway, I have the same issue. I installed a wood trim kit in my center console and the top part of the wood trim is peeling off due to heat. They tend to be flexible when heated and I am planning to just glue them back on. ...though I am not sure which glue to use.

the door trim is one complete plastic piece held in by 4 delicate clips, so be carefull when removing those.theyre hard to find.
just take em off and sand with extra fine sandpaper and repaint them, thecenter console start at the ash tray to remove.
