A couple of questions....

1) When I start my car in the morning (usually around 60-70 degrees in the am) my "brake" light stays on for a while. It flickers on and off for a little, then shuts off entirely. I think it might just be warming up, but if anyone has had this turn into a bigger problem, please let me know.

2) My speedo clocks faster than it seems like I'm going. Granted, its a powerful and quiet car, but I was pacing a friend of mine, and I called him to ask his speed, and he was around 7 mph slower than me. Do I need to be re-caliberated and how much will that cost

If you have big rims, maybe thats why your speedo is off. It could be the other way around and maybe your friends speedo is off? lol, I dont know what to tell you about your brake lights though.

If it's used...

maybe the prev. owner spilled something sticky in the brake area and it made the sensor sticky.

nah, i have 15" snowtires.... thats what the dealer threw on there when I got them.... I'm thinking there were bigger tires on there at one point, and they were changed out

1. Check your brake fluid to see if its topped off (if not..buy anu DOT 3 fluid and you should be fine..or you can be picky like ma n just buy one from toyota!). If that works out fine...then go with the basics....re-bleed the brake line and check the pads to see if they are worn out

2. for your speedo, i know for a fact that our speedo's indicate a higher speed than what we're travelling. (there was an article at some boards as well..not here..tried it myself as well...and was indeed true). Its not a whole lot of difference more like 5-7% off than what its supposed to be...its someting that i'm not too worried about...especially since it indicates more than what we really are pushing!

All car manufacturers do this in order to allow for slight errors. Toyota wouldn't want to be called into traffic court because the speedo said 55 and they were doing 65 on a completely stock car. Automobile magazine had an article about this a few years ago. Toyotas were around 3-4% off
