Door cable

Door cable

Postby thenewguy » Mon Sep 05, 2011 1:43 am

I was at In-n-Out tonight and tried to open my door, when I heard a "thud". And suddenly I couldn't open my door. Went home to find that the cable broke. Can anyone on the forums sell me this cable? I'm also willing to buy the whole thing as well. (handle, both cables, etc...)

Thanks!

Best bet is to get it from the dealer, junkyard, or car-parts.com. Do you need help with part number?

Ok, well i went to a pull-a-part yard and saw a silver Solara, and will pull the cable for you, and you can pay me for the part and shipping to you.
Did the cable just break or the part it clips to??
Take a picture for me.
Cause the Solara i saw is missing the inner door handle and outer door handle too....
All i saw was the cables.

Only the cable broke for opening the door. The cable for the locking mechanism is finethough.

I think the one on the Solara is worn out...

I had my driver side interior door latch cable pop on me a month ago. The part is 15-18 bucks on village toyota. Just google "year solara door latch cable". My cable was the interior door latch cable. Sounds like you popped the exterior door latch cable. Interior cable is easy as pie to replace; despite the dealership trying to charge me 300 bucks b/c they said they "had to remove the latch." When I threatened them with a lawsuit under the unfair trade and deceptive practices act, they refunded me the one hour of labor for the so called "diagnostic" they wanted (which was to be applied to the 1 hour of labor they charge to replace the cable). I did it myself for free and it didn't require removing the actual latch.
