Need help with a nasty rattle from wiper cowl area. Please!

Hi I have a 2003 4 cyl SE convertible that has a nasty rattle in wiper cowl area. We have removed the wiper arms and cowl and test drove it that way, rattle still there. Sounds like a loose panel, but everything looks, and feels tight. This is a very specific rattle that sounds like its coming from both sides. There were no broken tabs on the cowl, and again, the rattle still exists even with the cowl removed. This does not sound like a dash rattle, it sounds like its in the firewall.
