I have a 99 SLE with 190k miles and have a hole in the flex pipe/joint of the exhaust. Muffler shop said that they can not weld on the new flex pipe without taking the exhaust down. Said the V6 has 2 pipes, which it does.. but said that they can not get the welder head around the 2nd pipe. He said $150 if he could do it with the exhaust still up, but since he can't it would be $250. Does this seem right?

Put your car on jack stands, take it off yourself. Its not hard at all. There's no way I'd pay either of those prices

It is welded on right? I would need to cut it off and reweld the new one?? I do not have a welder. Am I missing somthing?

I meant take the y-pipe off and then take it to a muffler shop to cut and re-weld

what kind of muffler shop is that i took my car to my muffler shop. They put it up in the air brough the exhaust down a bit. Got a saw cut the old flex pipe off and welded a new one. $50 bucks total is what i spent

lol i had leak in my flex pipe. i spent 150 on fixing it but i needed it done for inspection so i didnt care too much to pay up the ass. either that or just not use the car.
i spent 240 to get my greddy sp2 and an intermediate pipe installed the same place. but i might want to change exhaust. i want a TRD exhaust. haha picky me XD

thats 60 bucks that you could save and get another mod. or gas. haha
