the rusting has been a common problem with the trd springs. if you choose to get new springs i would go with eibachs or teins..

i have the teins and the ride quality is really nice..

Does the rust hurt anything?

as far as i know.. the tein had a garrantee of sometype from rusting... they have a ruber surround the teins springs that prevent it from rusting also.. but i know that the trd and eibachs are the same material... so i dunno which would be better.. so far i haven't had any problems with the teins...

As for you question flash.. rust can cuase some harm.. the most rust it gets the weaker the spring can get which means you have a slight chance of them breaking.. which is very uncommon.. but like i said.. it can.. i didn't it did....

Ill try to do more research on this and let you guys know..

I dont think those rust will effect the structure. I never hear there is a car has broken spring due to rust, and i think it is normal trend for suspension parts....since it is in the harsh condition all the time. but of course, if it is so rust like the titanic...then it is another story

The Tein setup you have on your car. Is the rubber material cover the whole entire spring structure or is it cover a small section where it rubs only?

By the way, thanks for your respond Kenny.

its on the whole springs.. you can not see a spot of metal.. also i felt the weight between the trd/eibach springs and teins and the teins felt a little light but i am not too sure on that one..

To HKSV6SLE:

How long you have your TRD spring? And do you see anything like mine when you jack up your car?

What is required to lower your car?

Postby robsatx1 » Fri Oct 17, 2003 11:01 am

I see the tein springs. Anything else? How long does it take? I am a decent mechanic can I do it myself and then take it in for the alignment.

Yes you can.. Its not hard just very time consuming.. If you look in the DIY section their is a DIY for spring and strut install.
