Manual Tranny Swap?

Manual Tranny Swap?

I was wondering if anybody has had experience or has talked to a mechanic about this but I was wondering in my V6 Auto if I could possibly swap it for a 5 speed manual or if I can swap it for the 2004 solara's 5 speed automatic?

This question has been asked here before, and the majority believe that you'd be better off trading in your auto for a manual. The conversion from what everyone says is very expensive and is not worth the time and trouble. Just trade in the auto and get a nice 99-02 SEV6 or trade it in for a new 04 Solara with the 5-speed auto tranny.

yea, I tried looking into trading my car in but it just would end up costing me a lot because i still have 8,000 to pay off on mine now and the trade in value is only 5,700 soo I guess it's the level10 upgrade for me

I have actually looked into this also, but mine was for swapping the 04's transmission with a 6 speed. All you have to do is find an transmission that will bolt to the engine (one can be built for you), add a clutch, replace the shifter, and you're good. Do it yourself and you're looking at around 1k, depending on the tranny, and where you get your parts.
