NO MORE Wood Dash Trim!!!

NO MORE Wood Dash Trim!!!

Postby tanya » Tue Nov 11, 2003 7:40 am

Hello,

I'm new to the board and I'm a new Solara owner.
I have a 2003 SLE V6 Silver with Black leather interior.
My car also came with wood trim on the doors and dash.
Can anyone please tell me where I can by something else to replace the hideous wood trim?

Thank you,
Tanya

You can pop them out, sand them down and paint them.

I was hoping to just buy a new set, that way, when I sell the car, I can give them both sets.

Yea... I thought it was lame at first but it grew on me... But I'd still rather have a metallic looking one anyday :D

I would normally say that it's not that bad either, but when you have a Silver car with Black interior, the wood just looks hideous!

the best looking wood i think is the greyish color wood that they put in some benzes..but yeah if you don't like it buy some carbon fiber film and cover it up...

I also have silver with black interior, so I painted the wood trim to silver. I have pics up on the 3rd page of my cardomain site. http://www.cardomain.com/id/geminimouse

I think with my tan interior the wood trim looks very classy...however I butchered that classy look with my red accents :P

I think carbon fiber would look great in the grey interior. I have often thought about replacing those fwood inserts myself. I was under the impression that Toyota offered carbon fiber dash pieces on the Solara when you got the black pearl emblems.

Of course.... I could be wrong. :drinking:

What did you use to paint your wood trim?

I've talked to many Toyota Parts & Service people and they all say that the Solara's come in only the Wood trim, except for the 2004 model that comes with wood or black.

Quote from NCTD:
"For 2002, the SE coupe gets a new appearance package ($110 with a manual transmission and $175 with an automatic) that includes a leather-wrapped, three-spoke steering wheel, leather-wrapped shift knob, black trim and black pearl emblems and special alloy center cap for all four wheels."
