First question, is there anyone else up here?

Second, if there are any, do any of you have a trustworthy mechanic that you take your Solara to? I am SO tired of taking my car to the Toyota dealership. They are all assholes. If you question anything they are doing, they give you attitude.

So if there are any of you out here (preferably in the Sacramento area), please let me know if you have a trusty mechanic. THANKS!

1) There's a few living up in N.Cal post here...

2) All independent auto shops do. What matters most is building up relationships. Therefore, the better they know you, the better you get the services and discounts, usually.

Most of us are here in the SF/South Bay area. Regarding indepedent shops, I tend to agree w/GR.

So there's no one in the Sacramento area? SF is kind of a far drive for a mechanic, esp. if it's a new one that I might not even like.

Thank's for you replies though. :)

Folsom Motor Works, owned by Rich Rato, a friend of my family's, my dad used to work there, I can put in a good word for you. down 50 off the E. Bidwell exit. PM me if you want directions.
Nascar would be a sport if half the cars were driving the other direction.

I brought my solara to pepboys by (folsom/zinfendale) for timing belt replacement. One prob with them is that they broke one of my custom HID bulbs. took them almost a month to finally decide that it was too hard for them to find HID bulbs and gave me a $95 refund instead.

they do good work but for some reason... I don't trust their mechanics.

pepboys in general are... but if you've had good experience wtih them, then that's fine. I find their prices not extremely spectacular. If you don't mind me asking, how much did they charge you to have the timing belt changed?

your right, they charge an arm and a leg. I think it cost me more to go there than the dealership. I went with them due to convenience. It was close to where I work and they promised to get this done in one day(which they didn't). took them 2 days.

they did the belt and the water pump for $430
