Rear Floor Mats

This has been bothering me for a few months now. :-?

The rear OEM floor mats don't fit very well in my Solara. Does anyone else suffer with this problem? One corner of the mat is folded up because of the location of the strut to attach the seat to the floor. Am I missing something? Do I have them on the wrong side of the car?

Help!!!????

there are essentially two types of mats for the solara. Both gen 1 and gen 1.5 coupes share the mat sizing's. But the convertibles have a different sizings for the rears. I was told that the general solara sizing would be short for the convertibles...hense, using that logic...the convertible sizing would be large for the regular coupes. I think you have convertible mats on your non-convertible car (the front's are same, its the rears that the are differnt)

Edit: in regard to having them on the wrong side of the car (left for rigth)...jut look at the bottom of the mats, they indicata right or left...Right for passanger and left for drivers side.

No...I have the same problem, and they're on the correct sides of the car. The mats I have are just too big too. Weird.

Ya, my rear passenger mat is folded up a little in the corner, but it's not really noticable.

Both my Gen 1 99' SLE and Gen 1.5 2002 SLE had the same problem. The rear mat on the right side gave me the most problems. No matter how you positioned it, the mat kept curling up.

As for my 04' SLE Gen 2... no problems with the rear mats at all.. I'll crawl back there again tomorrow just for kicks.

It was a rather annoying problem with my first two solaras. Hell, look what we are complaing about... our cars are so problem free we are complaining about the mats, haha.

I doubt we all got convertible mats in our cars.... That would be kind of silly. That's like putting orange juice in a milk container and selling it... Only that would be a little more obvious

I tried swaping the mats to the other sides. They were definitely on the right sides when I started. They definitely don't fit when they are on the wrong sides. I doubt the convertible theory too. I think it is more likely that they just made a change to the seat bracket, and never redesigned the mat. Or somethink like that. I guess, I will live with the corner folded up.

Well I have a 2001 solara.....I didn't want to pay 135 dollars to the dealership when i bought my new car...first thing i did was go on ebay. Bought me some 1999 tan solara mats. My mats fit perfectly (like a glove)...no extra spacings, I clearly remember them to indicate 1999 solara on the bar-code on the packaging. If my 2001 was able to fit 1999 mats, then i highly doubt that any changes on the seat brackets would have taken place. I remember there are some kinds for numbers in the bottom of the mats...I'll tell you mine when i go back to the car next.

Mine is on the right (passenger) side as well. It doesn't really bother me at all.

Ditto! You’re not alone! Hell it looks like a bad hair day! You know when you have a piece that just does not want to come down. Mine is flipped to the point of no return now. Maybe if I heat it up on the opposite side but what good will that do if it’s going back to the same location. :roll:

My mats are curled up in the corners, I bought a new set of grey mats on ebay a year ago and I still have not put them in my car since it's winter time I dont want to put the mats in my car because I am afraid that they will get messed up; Although my stock ones still look new. My mats look like they are backwards but they are bolted in so they must be in the right way.
