Modifications?

Are aftermarket parts for the Solara (lets say a 99 or 2000 model V6) the same for the Solara as they are for the Camry? Or are they model specific?

Say I wanted a AEM V2 intake (heh heh - my friend put one on his Tundra, easily the best thing since sliced bread). Would I just get the Camry one? What about other parts, like fuel filters and brake pads and the like? All Camry parts?

Thanks.

<edit - just saw that AEM's intakes for the 96-02 Camry isn't out yet. Damn.>

97-01 is the Camry platform that which we are built on.

The intake SHOULD work, but the engine mounts are never perfectly the same. Park it next to a 97-01 Camry and pop the hoods. Then you can see =P but most of the hoses and stff should be the same... I think the Solara and Camry have 57% of the same parts lol

if it is the v6 model, things should be like a mirror between the two in the engine bays. same goes for the I4.

On the I4 I can vouch since there is one of each (2000 Solara & 2000 Camry) outside my house. Engine compartments are identical.
Let's just pretend I didn't grow up, or you're going to be terribly disappointed.

The parts are identical. There was a slight difference in legnth of the Camry and Solara. Apparantly the Solara was a tiny bit longer, sio when I got the Apexi WS exhaust, I had it trimmed by an inch to make it more snug under my Camry. There aren't a lot of performance parts specifically for us out there, but they are the same for both. As far as that AEM intake goes, they told me that most likely they will never make it. It was something that they felt they might want to design in the future, but after they had extremely poor sales for the gen 3 Camrys, they decided to hold off on the intake for gen 4's, and maybe even cancel the project completely. But a company named Xerd and, a guy named Danny have also developed intakes for our cars, and will release them shortly. Good luck with that.

Good to know. The mods may want to add something to that effect in the FAQ, that all engine mods between the Camry and the Solara are the same.
