dash trim kits

are all dash trim kits purely a "slap on" or are some actual replacement parts?

the ones that i have seen are all slap on..

I have the wood trim and it was as slap on.... u still use the OEM parts...

I have the "wood" (plastic) radio bezel, ashtray, vents, and shifter piece. $449 option in '99. Wow. I hate them all-- they don't really match the woodgrain on the doors and dash. The radio bezel looks to be its own piece, the others look like glue add ons. Bad ones at that.

Getting someone to make actual replacement parts would get kinda expensive

how do the slap on's look? can you tell that it is a slap on or does it pretty much cover the OEM parts?

Yea, it covers up pretty good. You can see some of the door pieces on the 3rd page on my cardomain.

The one I have is slap on too. You have to be pretty patient when placing them over the desired area. Get too hasty and they will come out crooked and once they are set it's tough to adjust. I had to toss out the center console piece (the largest one) because I was off by a couple milimeters and it looked pretty tacky once it set. But if you take your time, you can make make it look OEM. Also, IMO, I wouldn't install all 20-33 pieces because it looks a bit overhwelming...like someone putting chrome spinner hubs on a Civic...ugh, the humanity!

hey geminimouse... on the 3rd pg of your cardomain... is that your factory front bumper in tyhe background?... i've always wanted a front bumper on my wall but i want 1 in my room... sweet kit... how was the complete kit put on? did u have 2 cut anything or did it fit right on?sry... i know this had nothing 2 do with the post but 2 late

Yea that's the factory bumper on the shelf. I didn't get the complete kit, just the front bumper, but soon to get trd side and rear :wink:

It fits right on but there are some imperfections that's hard to notice. Only hard thing I had do to was drill holes for the bolts...took about 2 hrs with 3 ppl. Or just pay a body shop to put it on for u..

alright guys, i was helping my buddy put on his dash trim kit today, and it looked god ugly!! The pieces didn't even cover what they were suppose to...meaning you could still see the origional dash, off to the sides. he got it from autoaccessories.com. they have a dash trim kit for the solara, but after putting in my buddies, i don't think i want to order it from them. anybody got any other place they ordered theirs from and pics so i can see the difference??

I think a lot of trim kits are like that. Another way, is to use spray paint or vinyl to cover up what you want it to.

Hey Akfahad, can you post some pictures of how did it come out? I'm planning to buy brushed aluminum dash kit either from autoaccessories.com or Alkaplus.com. Pictures would be halpful.
