I have an intake on my 5SFE. Y does my car sometimes feel slower on cold nights than on warm days??? I think its because of how I installed the MAF sensor. I have an off-brand intake and it doesn't plug in too nicely. I had to kind of mickey mouse the whole thing. Plus... where in the world do the brackets to hold the darn thing go??? Thanks.. Any response is helpful.

well.. i would provide pics but no digital camera nor scanner... i thought it was supposed 2 add some mid-range power??? not a lot but some... i mickey moused it though so it acts as a cold air... sort of.. more like ram air... a put some piping where my left fog light is and routed it up to the intake... and i put a plastic cap over the end on the inside when it rains so no water gets in... not any big gains but it still works... do u know of a way to trick the MAF sensor to think its getting cold air? cuz the sensor doesnt go in deep enough to where it can read how much air is getting into the intake... thanx

I sent this to you via PM but did not realize you had a post... If that hole is too big then your kinda stuck. Your talking about the one sensor on the top with the hole? Well you need to fit this little silicone hose into it first so that when you stick the MAF sensor into it it will fit snug and tight. If yours did not come with that silicone hose you would need to get that in order for it to fit. Or if yours did come with the silicone hose piece then you probably need to get a thicker one.

I hope this helps. & BTW that loosing power in colder air temps should not be happening. I loose power in hot temps but cold temps are better performance. I'm adding a 'custom fitted' CAI extention peice to eliminate that problem though.

use the stock airbox system with k&n filter until a reputable company makes a real CAI for our cars

Sounds like a botched install. Did you reset the ECU? You should run better in the cold air as it is denser, whether you use a short ram or the stock box. Personally I think the short ram helps at higher RPMs, but certainly hurts at the lower ones.

yea... the lower rpms feel like they lag a bit than b4... yea... like i said... i mickey moused the whole thing.. how do i reset the ecu? i know i shouldnt even be doing things myself cuz i tend to "customize" my parts, but hey... i dont make the same mistake twice and its fun to install everything..

Unplug the battery for 10 minutes. That should reset the ECU. The car will run crappy for a bit, but the ECU will quickly, in about a day or so, adjust to maximize you potential.

well... wouldnt the ecu reconfigure itself after i installed the intake? i thought it would recognize more air coming in and refigure itself... i'll unplug the battery anyways and hopefully i feel some difference

the ecu will not reconfig or reset if there is power attached to the car. basing on what you did for this intake, don't hope for any gains.

mickey mouse wiring may work for time being, but down the line its going to go south.
