I tried searching this on the website and nothing came up, and I've went through my owners manual a few times too but can't find it. So do any of you guys know exactly how much our gas tanks can handle? I think somewhere 15 gallons but not totally sure...... :-?

18.5 for 1mz and 5s-fe
I filled 20 and topped off. Yes I was almost shutting down! (This is when you can pump you own gas)

I know some states don't let you and they stop when the pump clicks and that does not fill it to the max.

When I lived in New Jersey I experienced that when they filled up only 16.2 gallons and it clicked. I was running on fumes at that time so I know there was more room. Ahh those were the days 94 octane at Sunoco. :D

I think that the light goes off when there is actually between 1.5 to 2 gallons left in your tank. So you can go for a while. Initially it will go on and off for a while and then it stablizes. When it's steady you have like 20-30 miles left depending on the conditions you drive in.

when the light starts coming on and then off again, it means you've still got a good 3 gallons left (meaning around 75 miles). It'll turn on an off depending on whether you're going uphill/downhill etc. When it stabilizes, you've got about 2 gallons left, good for about 50 miles. The gas tank holds 18.5 gallons like everyone said. The most I've ever filled was 18.2. I read in the owners manual that when the gas gets really really low, and you've got only 5 miles left or something, the CE light will come on and it will stay on if your car stalls. I wonder if anyone has seen that? As for me, I have never run out of gas, and I hope not to (knock on wood!!).

why would anyone want to do that? that makes ur fuel filter turn bad because it sucks up all the materials that was already sink at the bottom of the fuel tank

Well me and dad did that (well he drove on my suggestion) ie. ran out of gas in our Cressida. NO CEL light came on...We had the a/c on too! haha...the car was at a stop light and then thug thug...it just closed....we knew what happened....we didn't try to restart it....we just pushed it (well i pushed, he was behind the wheel) to a gas station.....Its not fun pushing a cressida wagon in the dead of summer (47degrees C) in the middle eastern summers!
We went to the dealership a day later and were told nothings' wrong!
