Oil in my intake.

Oil in my intake.

Postby krazeee1707 » Tue Mar 16, 2004 4:20 pm

I have a injen intake and as I was replacing my filter, I found that there are drops of oil in the tubing. I checked the filter and there is oil in there. I'm not too sure if I just need to replace the pcv valve or if its a bigger problem. Sorry if this topic has been covered before, if so, can someone point me in the right direction. Thanks ahead of time.

hmmm... I may have the same problem... but this happened to me only when I installed the S/C. I never checked thou to see if there is oil in my intake... but CEL comes on if I use the injen short ram intake and if I switch back to the stock airbox, the light will be off. Can anybody explain how does the breather work and where does this breather go?

Thanks

you need to get the error code to determine what is the real cause.

its ironic how ur problem came up just when mine did... I am also getting oil in my intake, but im getting lots more than a few drips, I called around and its funny but the hose on the valve cover is actually suppost to suck in... mine is pushing out, either meaning that the pcv valve coming from the back set of heads is either clogged, or the tube going to the s\c is crimped because of where the hose goes to... so this weekend im going to try to relocate that hose so it doesn't get crimped...
If that doesn't work I have been told that you can decrease the amount of oil going from the valve cover to the intake by putting a plug, big enough so it doesn't go into the engine threw the crank case cover, and putting that in the hose, and drilling a 1/8th inch hole in it... this will cause the airflow to slow and make it more of a vacuum so the oil will be sucked back down and not out into your intake... someone w\o a s\c should check and see if that hose sucks air into the engine when its w\o a s\c... Jim@foreign affiars said that that is the engine breather where all the air that the engine needs comes from... so.. someone check on that... thanks
