I am realy interested in the ripp mods supercharger for my 4 cyl solara. Has anyone tested 0 - 60 times or quarter mile times with this. Also they say that it increases power at the wheels to 191 which is double what stock is. Wouldnt this be causing alot of stress on engine parts and drive line?

Thats a good question to ask the peeps @ ripp. They have succesfuly been able to produce this power safley @ 5.5lb. They have tested this on a camry with our same engine with over 3k so far miles and no issues.

SEARCH here or check there site for more information.

Boosting is going to cause stress no matter what, the engine isn't bulletproof. What concerns me is I've heard mention that the rods and rod bearings are the week link in the 5sfe. What I've heard about drivetrain is the stock manual tranny is good up to 250hp, though that's hearsay. Don't know about the auto.

If engine stress is a concern, aftermarket pistons and rods are available if you want to beef up the motor prior to boosting, I don't know through whom though. You can get arp head bolts through Burien Toyota... I just found this out, apparently you need the 3s bolts and two of them have to be custom modified.

I'd be interested to see quarter mile times as well, so if anyone with the kit has numbers, post 'em!

The engine wasnt design for boost, so there is no way to prevent to shorten the engine life. I would say it's all depend on how you maintain the car and how heavy is your foot. I been turboed my car and drove more than 30000 miles with untune computer, it still runs fine and smooth. I still get 24-27 mpg at least, idle is always at nice 690-700 rpm. Never stall or die on me.

You see, good maintanence and the right stuff pays off. Now thats Turbo which is even more rough on the engine (so I heard). Congrats! Thats good work. I like that your car idles at that range. I hate when its hovering @ 400-500. I'm sure its due to the turbine or can anyone change the idle setting?

I was asking you guys for the 0-60 time because ripp mods has not tested this. I called them and they didnt know. And also because its their product they are going to hype it. I was wondering what other people's experiences were with this supercharger.
