It's up by the intake manifold. It's a round thingy with several vacuum hoses coming out of it. I think that it actually say EGR on the top. I will go out and get a picture tomorrow if you can't find it. Allright good luck man. Just out of curiosity; why are you looking for the EGR valve?
Let's just pretend I didn't grow up, or you're going to be terribly disappointed.

Thanks Bro,

Is it the one on the left or right? There are two round thingy with tubes sticking out of it. My car is in the shop so I can see if it says EGR on top.

NEW TOPIC:
CE Light: Error Code: P0401 EGR flow insufficient detected.
This relates to my original question on were I can find my EGR and changed the subject to get more attention to the issue.

I got P0401 when Toyota ran the test and wanted to know what anyone else has done to fix/resolve this issue.

P0401 -
After engine is warmed up, intake manifold absolute pressure is larger than value calculated by ECM while EGR system is ON (2 trip detection logic)

Toyota is telling me after having the car for 4 days to put the stock air box back on and run the test again since they can't find anything wrong with the car and won't recalibrate my ECM to the specs of my CAI. My concern is that I had the CE light before installing the Injen Air Intake so I am convinced it has to do with my EGR valve or something in that area. They said that if putting the air box back does not resolve that they can replace the EGR check valve to try and fix but they are not guaranteeing it will fix the CE light. They want $180.00 for part and labor. :-?

I need to have my CE light fixed by the end of the month so that I can register my car in the State of Georgia. Need to pass emitions. :-?

If you had this issue what did you do to fix it? :)

Not sure this will help, but I had the same problem on my '93 SHO years ago. The problem was that the passage from the EGR to the intake got plugged with carbon. This is the passage that was feeding the exhaust back into the intake. I cleaned the passage out with carb cleaner and pipe cleaners and fixed everything. I don't think the actual EGR valves go bad very often. Might also check the vacuum lines going to the valve to make sure they are good.
Good luck.

kind of random, but how much did it cost to have the codes read? My ce light just came on and I'm a lil nervous about the price....

My friendly Toyota dealer checked my car twice @ no charge. They now want me to put the stock air box back on and run the test again. Anyone got a Stock air box for me?

Ok after placing the stock air box back on...Took it to another dealer for a second opinion and they said...they need to replace the EGR, VSV, & Modulator. $588 including labor!! OUCH!!! I'm gona tackel one part at a time and replace it myself for half that cost. Just purchased a haynes manual and will replace the VSV first since that is the cheapest and probably were the root cause of the problem is at. Damn toyota wants to replace everything!!! VSV part alone cost only $66.
They said there was carbon build up so the parts needed replacement. I hope this is usefull for anyone else that runs into this code.

Let us know what you find. Like I said previously, you probably just need to clean the passage ways out like I had to on my SHO. I bet that there are no parts that need replaced. Track down the passage where the EGR feeds exhaust back into the motor and clean it out and it should be fine. Matches what they said about the carbon build up too.

yeah I'll do that. Thanks! The VSV is the hardest to get to cause it's in the back lower part of the engine and can only get to it underneath the car. My hands reach it but I can't see what I'm doing. That area is so grimy with black grease so I can imagine that would be the trouble area. Yo the Haynes manual is off the hook! It's showing me how to do everything! There are things that I definatly can do besides replacing. It says to clean carbon deposits first and if still have issues then replace. Toyota just went straight to replace. Like the EGR modulater has a filter inside that I can clean! Hello I would not have known that if it was not for the book. I'm gona try different things and post my results. Hopefully I can takel this myself.

Thanks for your feedback!
