How many of you have changed your transmission fluid. I have 80k on my car and I would like to do it. I've changed it on other cars, but what gear oil do you all recommend? I saw the mobil 1 synthetic 75w-90 at autozone and I might try that. Any one have any suggestions? thanks!

I don't know what weight, but you must go full synthetic, thats what comes from the factory. I have 110k miles and it's never been changed, I checked it at 100k miles and it looked as clean as if you just opened the quart.

I doubt everybody on the forum would agree but I'm not planning on changing it until the clutch needs replaced.

I've got 64k on my '99 and I agree with not changing the tranny fluid until changing the clutch and resurfacing the flywheel (or dishing out the dough for a lighter flywheel while your at it too). Or at least that's what my plan is. Don't worry about it, unless you're having problems with the transmission.

For real? damn, looks like I still have a ways to go . . . I only have 19,000 on my baby. clutch at 60K seems a long time to . . . peace.

My roommate read a link from the VWVortex forum about lucus and the results were not good. Suposedly, some dude did a test with the lucus additive and it turned the oil completely foamy. I'll post the link if he can find it.
