our car does not have JDM.. it was only made in the us... alot of cars your probably thinking of is like honda and other popular toyotas liek celica xa xb mr2.. the solara isn't a popular car for modding..

hence the limited parts we can get...

I think he means JDM style, not real JDM solara headlights because there obviously are none.

Please, if they can make like 4 different body kits for our cars, 4 different companies can make springs and they can make carbon fiber, chrome and black chrome tail lights, then someone out there can make us some projectors. Even if it's not a company like TYC. They have to make everything DOT legal, but I wouldn't car if I got an illegal pair of lights from some random company...grrrrr

yea.. i knew what he meant... but i was just saying its going to be hard for a company to make projector just cuz we dont have enought ppl interested... even tho we are it takes a alot to get headlights into the market esp they have to be dot approved to be sold...

projectors?

Postby bluesolara » Wed May 05, 2004 11:11 pm

Hello guys

I know what you guys are going thru, I've been struggling to find some projectors for our cars too...

here's the thing though.
I assume you guys are all going for some kind of HID mod in the future, and the problem is, those aftermarket headlights with projectors all use either halogen projectors, or cheap HID ones, Projector quality can really mean a lot to the lighting.

So...even if they did make a projector headlight for us, we'd still have to refit some Nice projectors inside to get a lighting improvement (A6, S2000, E55, X5...etc.)

so...for HID lovers/projector lovers that can't wait, go and find some OEM projectors (main brands are BOSCH, VALEO, and HELLA) and retrofit them in your car? go to HIDFORUM.COM to find out more, or contact HIDTECH.COM, they actually perform retrofits, at around 800 dollars though.

so...if you want projectors, and are a handy person...retrofit!!!

wish I had projectors...

:fadein: God bless

A few HIDforums indicate not everything good about HIDTECH. True best for our cars would be bixenons' (gen 1) or any hid-projectors for gen 1.5.
That with the x5 shroud trimmed to fit our housing is what wouuld look BEAUTIFUL. Just the parts are gonna be 400+ then to have some dude retrofit them and make it his business expect to pay additional 200 or so (MAYBE MORE). cost is why no one ventures into this...we're looking upwards of 600+ (for a diy job then it might be in the ball park of 400-500). When i hit the lotto....i'll keep you guys in mind...till then we all can dream ! :drinking:
