Can anyone tell me why when i slow down and when my 03 SLE Solara reaches 15mph, I believe it shifts into first gear I get a noticable thump when it shifts into first gear . This happens most of the time. Help and Thanks

How many miles on the car? Have you ever serviced the transmission (complete flush)? Is the noise just one thump or like going over speed bumps?

My solara will be 1Year old in August so I don't believe it needs a transmission flush and I change my own oil at 3000 miles with Vavoline Durablend 5W30 and Mobile1 M1-102 oil filter. When it hits 15MPH and downshifts into 1st gear it drops in so hard I can feel a thump. Thanks for your input and any other suggestions are a help.

I know what you are talking about...have it happen on my 01 5sfe solara a few times...Took it for service (as i have extended warranty) with my receipts of oilchanges+transmission servies..was told this is normal...I get it sometimes...but not always...
