99 SLE Steering Wheel

Postby DDH1313 » Mon May 24, 2004 11:48 am

In the past year or so, I have had a steady deterioration of the leather on the top of my 99 SLE's steering wheel. There is currently a 1/2 in x 1 in patch of brown padding visable on the top of the wheel which is the only problem on an otherwise perfect car and is getting to me. Does anyone know if there would be a way to repair this damage or how much a dealer would charge to replace the wheel???

Thanks
Derek

Steering wheel

You should be able to find a good used one, since you don't need the airbag, that would be the cost-effective solution.

You have three options
1. Bandage it...(wrap it). you can place a steering cover on the existing steering wheel.
2. Replace it. (new from dealership, or from a junk yard)...camry, es wheels work well with ours.
3. Mod it :D - go aftermarket or OEm from another car. Arief (happyaggis) here has celica three spoke wheel on his gen 1 solara. Looks sweet!
