My glove box rattles on my 99 occasionally, especially on rough roads. If I apply just a little pressure to it, it goes away. Any one else have this problem and solve it?

Tighten some screws. Try to rattle it yourself when stopped to investigate where the rattle is coming from.

My friends' 99 solara does that. HE locks it and the rattle goes away. So try that...

My glove box rattles too, but I'm not sure which screws to tighten.

Thanks for the replies guys! I will look for the screws and/or try locking it and reply back after and see if that fixed it.

I have not had time to look for screws to tighten but locking the glovebox did remove the rattle.

OK, the rattle is back, even with the glovebox locked. Doesn't rattle if I leave it open though. Someone must have a solution for this since it seems to be such a common problem! Oh, and the screws are tight.

That sucks...my original assumption to the rattle was the metalic tire pressure pen..but then after i removed it, i tried relocating contents in my glovebox to see if there anything that could shake. Bottomline, i've leant is to keep it as little as possible in the box and keep it locked. My frustration now is the 'sun-glass storage" thingie by the dome ligths...now that thing rattles sometimes. Toyota are such quiet cars...we notice small minute problems, when we had our ford, i'm sure it was the engine idling and stuff that make us worry!

it's the lock mechanism that's causing the rattling. If you could get access to the glovebox door handle, look for loose parts on that. Trust me many cars have that same problem.
