Ok guys, just got a new Alpine 9851 hu and a Kicker 350w multichannel amp installed. Everything sounds great with one big exception...I have my factory speakers still installed, and while I definitely hear much more sound and clarity and bass from my tweeters and front two speakers, I hear next to nothing from my 6x9's in the back. I figure something is wrong when a 6 1/2" speaker is putting out more bass than a 6x9. I tried using the fader function on the hu but I still don't notice any discernible difference. What do I need to adjust to remedy this? I figure it might be something like a simple amp adjustment, but I'm all thumbs with this stuff.

Check the crossover at the amp. Maybe it's cutting off the low frequency to that set of speakers and hence no bass.
You should really look at replacing the stock speakers, the OEM ones are pretty cheap. Even a $50 a pair speaker will sound better than the stock ones.

Good luck with the sound,

You might also want to check out the gain that your amp is putting out to the fronts compared to the rear. If your gain is really high in the front and low in the back, it could cause the exact same thing that you are talking about. If you are hearing next to nothing in the back, i doubt that it would be the crossover. You would still be hearing killer highs. In any effect, I would keep the gain for both of the sets less than 1/2 and turn the crossovers off if you dont have subs.

Ask whoever installed it to take a look.

there is sound definitely coming from the speaker locations?yes?

did you install a sub? just making sure they did not remove you 6x9's..

unlikely

are all 4 stock speakers running off the amp? if so check gains on amp. they should all be somewhat close in relation to each oher. the front channels may be a bit higfher than the rears. i would assume they would be set very low however because our stock jbl's dont handle much more than 20 watts well. be careful when adjusting the gains. just small increments.

now if you are getting sound (same level just no bass) you will need to, as stated above, adjust the hp crossover. if you are getting no bass you can turn it down to 80 comfortably with the rear 6x9's

if no sound at all it is possible they ran the rears off the hu? you can turn the internal hu amp off from the setup button(hold it down for 3-4 seconds) ..option is something like iirc power or?? turning on the internal amp will bring back the rears if they are hooked up to the hu

Here's the deal - All four speakers are still stock, and all four have sound coming out of them. However, the difference in loudness and bass is MUCH louder with the 6 1/2"s. I crawled to the back and stuck my ear as close to the 6x9's as possible and even felt on them for bass and yes, there is sound coming out of them, but they pale in comparison to other speakers. I am going to adjust my gains today and see if that helps. I hadn't really fiddled with the amp too much since I trusted the guys at the install shop to do it. No worries though. Will let you all know.

Check the polarity of all the speaker wiring, i.e. the + wire from the head unit is going to the + amp terminal, which goes to the + speaker terminal and likewise for - signals.
