On my EQ, I can adjust the bass' frequency, gain, and "q-factor"

"Q" is the bandwith or slope adjustment. U pick a center frequency say 50 hz. That is main frequency that will be boosted or cut. With a high "Q" only frequencies very close to the center frequency will boosted or cut. With a lower "Q" a much wide range of frequencies will be affected as well. Think of it as a mountain. The summit is the center freq the slopes are the other freqs. A high "Q" will have steep sides a low "Q" will have long sloping sides..
