cam do you know if the older clarion/processor combos offered as much or even close to level of adjustability as these combo units?

like the drx9575rz and pdh7500

i was looking for specs but have not found much..and if you know of an older clarion combo with good option do tell.,.

I couldn't find specs on that unit either, but I don't think it has the 4 way crossovers.

You mentioned combo units(like P9, Alpine H701+headunit/DVD) this Clarion unit isn't a combo unit. It has everything built into the single din chassis. The other box is the power supply. That was one of the major selling points for me.

The previous top of the line Clarion unit was the DRX9255. But that didn't have nearly as much control as this unit. That was basically a really high end CD transport.

The newer DRZ does everything.

They have pretty good build quality and reliability. The only thing that Clarion can't grasp is the need for a less exspensive headunit with a 3 way crossover.

Even their 900 dollar headunit can't touch the capabilities of a Pioneer Premier DEHP860MP.

BUT< if you are using passive crossovers from the components, or an external crossover, it can be a great choice, albeit overpriced.

The Clarion DRZ9255, is a an exception to the crossover thing. This particular unit is the only headunit with built in 4 way crossovers.

This will allow you to actively control a 3 way component set(Tweeter, Midrange, and midbass) and also control a subwoofer.

Not only that but it has some of the best SQ componentry available right now, and excellent build quality. It probably will not break for at least 10-15 years.
