Swapping JBL CD player w/ CD Changer

Is it possible to take out the JBL system with just a cd and tape player, and switch it with a cd changer that was used for the same model year? I'm thinking about buying one off of ebay.
Can systems from other models be used, like the Highlander? They appear to be the same dimensions, but I don't know if the pin size is correct.

Check the part numbers. I've personally tried swapping some early gen1 decks on my 01 solara, the wiring harness was different??

Here's how I did it... I have a 99SLE and the 99's had the single CD player. I have the amp dealio, too. I got the changer out of a Camry, but I believe Avalon, Sienna, and others will work. BUT you have to use the mounting brackets your unit from the Solara. I had to get the OEM stereo harness and amp from the Camry because the 99 harness is different than the 2000 on harnesses. If you have a 2000 or newer Solara, it should be plug and play (assuming you have the JBL double DIN unit already).

So, yes it can be done. You may have to get the amp harness and amp from the donor car though.

I have an '01 with JBL unit/amp (I think its double din). So you're saying I can pretty much just take out my normal stereo unit and plug in the changer unit from a Camry, Solara, or other vehicles.

I called my dealer, and they said it can't be done, or if I really wanted to, it'd cost me $1500. It didn't make any sense to me, as the units looked exactly the same, and I didn't really see why there'd be any difference in the wiring.

Thanks for the info

If you have the JBL setup with the amp and just a single CD player, yes. I got my changer off ebay for $150. Yours should plug right up. 6 CD's in the dash is the sweetness.

I understand that the flush factory look is so sweet. I always wanted to keep that stock look until my 6-disc changer got f'd up. I finally decided to go aftermarket after EVERYONE had been telling me to do it for so long. Man. If you even care about sound quality like a teeny bit, REALLY consider changing the deck. It makes a HUGE HUGE difference even though im still running stock speakers. $150 can buy you a really nice aftermarket HU. Think about it at least...
