Expert Advice on Nice Speakers

My Opinion

Postby JMSinMaryland » Tue Feb 25, 2003 9:30 am

I have the JBL in now, if I ever was to replace my system I would go with top of the line Focal. It's the best sound I have ever heard and blows the doors off Bose, Mark Levinson (whomever is in the Lexus), Diamond, etc. It's like being in a mobile music hall, absolutely AWESOME. Jon.

I don't have them, but i've heard them and they're worth every penny. The sound was so vivid and beautiful, i feel in love. If i worked at a local place around me i could get them for $175 instead of $750 :D We'll see though. And don't worry if I do, i'll hook you guys up

I have the Alpine 177a components, and they are VERY nice. The highs are crisp, without sounding tinny or harsh, and the midrange is rich but not overbearing. Can't speak for the model you're talking about, since I haven't heard them. Focal and Diamond are both reputable brands, and I'd support them as well. I wasn't ever much of a MB Quart fan, but some people swear by them.

I just found out that a buddy of mine has the Type-R components in his Celica. He is running them off an Alpine deck and they do sound nice and clean. However, they really need some more juice, BAD.
Let's just pretend I didn't grow up, or you're going to be terribly disappointed.

Oh god. That's bad. I actually laughed out loud when I read that. (Which might be worse :))

are you planning on getting an amp for the components?
if not, forget focal, diamond audio, and so on

you'd be better off getting some entry level stuff
