I would try doing a quick head unit swap. Alpines don't usually go bad, so that is a bit strange. Keep us posted, as I am interested in the resolution of this problem.

Could you be overheating the amp? Is it after running the car for a while?

Wait, I'm confused. Is it on your car, or on your friends car. Were the stats that you listed for your car or your friends?

I think when those amps heat up too much they should just shut down. That is what mine do if they get too hot. The pop could originate in the head and be carried by the RCAs. Just a theory, but plausible I think. Maybe the head unit is getting too hot?

you have a voltage drop somewhere in the line. it can be several things, first, did he wire the alpine to the battery?, do all of his amps have the proper fusing, and then check the voltage on the battery and then the alt.

Gunman to the rescue :D On the Alpines they need like 10 gauge wiring directly to the battery. That just gives you an idea how much power they are pulling

I would assume you are going to use a continunity tester or a DMM (Digital Mutli Meter). Just turn the system on and attach the red lead on the DMM to the power wires and black to the ground. You should be running anywhere from 13.4-14.1 volts. Around 13.8 is normal for driving with a light load, but i have run as high as 14.1volts. You don't want anything over 14.4 and chances are, you won't even come near that.

Hey Peter, did you guys get this problem worked out? Did the proper power run fix it?
