Meh, I just sold my soul to the devil and went with Monster power and speaker wire for my Supra (I still use Esoteric, Lightning, Mobile Spec, Acoustic Research/Recoton, etc... for other applications, but it was there so I bought it)...
Dunno where you guys get "Monster Cable is more difficult to run", "Moster Cable is more expensive", "Monster Cable is made for home usage", and all this other bullshit... The power I ran was just as flexible, high quality and INEXPENSIVE as any of the other cables I've used in the past... And the speaker wires I chose are shielded, ultra-low noise cables specifically designed for mobile audio applications... They weren't "cheap", but they were no more than other comparable shielded cable...
I also bought some Monster Cable while I was down in Florida last Christmas to run new wiring for my grandmother's stereo... I certainly didn't seek it out for the brand, but it was, oddly enough, BY FAR the cheapest cable I could find, EVEN AT HARDWARE STORES... A 50ft spool cost me $8.47+tax...
FACT: If you do a bit of shopping around, you can find good prices on any of the above wiring. Series to series they tend to all cost about the same...
FACT: Thread count/flexibility/material is approximately the same, if not THE SAME from series to series for the different brands. Also, a thread or two difference does NOT make a substantial difference, especially in power/ground applications
FACT: It is true that Monster markets more (especially to the mainstream) than the other companies do, and that some of the other companies may be more dedicated toward the mobile audio market, however Monster does have quality products (along with their crap products), just like the other companies. That's right, they all offer the good with the bad, and they all offer products along a full range of prices.
Compare all of your potential brands series to series, line to line and decide how "high end" you need to go for your specific application... Once determined what you need, determine what wires will meet your needs from each company... From there, go STRICTLY on price and buy from the lowest cost company specifically for the "grade" of wires you need. I GUARANTEE that you will not hear a difference, and that the wires will be approximately the same, assuming you did the necessary research.
