radio din size?

found a double din radio that i actually like but site says it wont fit my 01 solara...is the company thinking if i use the trim that comes with the radio? wont it fit if the 01 is a double din too? what size is the 01 solara din?

becuase of the shape and the way the plastic in the dash of the solara fits ON TOP of the radio, instead of AROUND the radio, you may have trouble fitting the trim plate.

Yeah, there's plating on the side of the stock radio that you're supposed to take off and make it adapt to the new radio, so that it may secure itself to the dashboard with the 4 bolts. A single DIN is about half the size in height of your stock radio, and the stock radio FYI is a double DIN... The only scenario where it won't fit at all is if it's a 1 1/2 DIN intended for Chrysler and a few other domestics.

k...so if i wanted the double din then i would have to remover the security plate thingy then?

Yes, for ANY aftermarket radio you get, but again, make sure the outside part fits into the dash molding too.
