jensen hu turns off and on

I have a jensen 7" flip up that i installed and it worked fine for about and week then all the sudden it started turning off and on randomly. I figured out that it turns off when i roll my windows down, turn on my blinkers, open the sun roof...anything that uses power. WTF is making this piece of crap do this, i know jensens suck but this thing was pretty much free .

Is it a problem with the ground, i by passed the crap that makes it so the e brake has to be up by splicing the wire to the black ground wire.

there's a reason why Jensen's are cheap bro...

(well from what I've seen at Circuit City when I used to work there)
you get what you pay for?

wish I could help you out some.

what model do you have? i have the jensen vm9311ts and never gave me a problem.... who did the installation for you? you dont need to ground it for the bypass... theres a code you can "type in" with your remote.

if its only when you use something else that draws a lot of current, then you could try putting a 12V cap in parallel with the headunit power. The cap will keep the voltage levels more stable when something momentarily draws a lot of current

Yeah I bought a Jensen HU for my first car(this was years ago lol). That thing was the biggest POS ever. Skipped like crazy, I paid like $200 for it from crutchfield. So ya back in the 90s they were still crap.

I wouldn't install Jensen in my car, even if someone paid me to.

Fusion.421,

Please explain in full details of your install, I will try and troubleshoot this issue for you to make sure you have the correct wiring setup.

For instance, on your HU, what wire did u connect the 12v to? ignition wire to? ground?

Just to let you know, I've got 3 Jensen dvd HU and they've all been amazingly problem free and I've done all of my installs except for one that I had help with which was a double din. I've also used the bypass code (which you can google) to disable the ebrake to watch movies without having the need for an on/off switch.

But keep in mind all of mine were brand new units and all work flawlessly!

pm me if you need help.

-Michael

Jensen quality sucks. Sorry.

However, it sounds like its installed improperly. Check your grounds and make sure everything is sealed correctly. Could be a short somewhere.
