Pioneer AVIC-D2 navigation system in a Gen 1.5

The original thread title was "Will Pioneer AVIC-D2 work on a Gen 1/1.5 Solara?" - I've made the plunge since then and decided to modify the existing thread instead of starting a new one.

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-VKYt7EtmKxy/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?I=130avicd2&search=pioneer+avicd2

I found a great deal on this head unit somewhere but I'm concerned because Crutchfield says it's not compatible with the 2002 Solara. However, I don't see why it wouldn't work. Is the problem with the wiring, or are they wrong?

I'm a bit pressed for time too so a rapid response would be appreciated. Thanks. :)

So I sold my Dell Axim x51v PDA and TomTom GPS unit (attached to the PDA) and used the money to get an in-dash navigation system. I received it today and as soon as I opened the box and saw the wires, I said to myself "F**k this!" and hightailed it to Best Buy to have them install it. And a good thing too, they ended up tearing up a lot of the interior to get at these wires. Definitely worth the $105 I spent.

Love it, absolutely love it. Any questions?

Looks great! I love them but the fact that you cant use the Nav and play a CD at the same time without a separate changer kills the sale for me. Looks sick though and the Nav interface on them is pretty good. Congrats.

Actually, it has TWO disc slots. I have the nav in the DVD slot and the music CD in the CD slot. I'll take a pic at some point tonight. It's freaking awesome!

Thanks!

I could have sworn I just read recently that it had just one. If that's true I may have to seriously think about it.

EDIT: I may start my own thread about it because I've really been itching to get one but I'm real picky. Then I can lose that crappy line out converter lol

@Mr. Slippery: You were probably thinking of the AVIC-D3 which has only one slot. I got this AVIC-D2 for only $525 on eBay, but YMMV.

@facevedo17: Remember the D3 only has one slot as mentioned above... it's better for you to get the D2 like mine.

You're right, I was. But that one plays movies. I don't understand why they would take one away. I want to have my cake and eat it too you know?
