New 2003 owner. Nav sugestions. I just got a 2003 Solara last night and am interested in installing a nav system. What do you guys recomend. The car has the JBL system with CD and cassete. Is there a Toyota head unit that I can put in, or should I look aftermarket? I am looking for a "clean" instalation that looks nice.

Thanks, Mike

If you want in dash check out crutchfield.com , they have the newest models and don't sell junk.
Its about a grand to get a good indash that will replace your factory radio.

Other option is to get a portable one that sticks on your windshield. I have a Magellan that I use and it works great. I can take it out of the car when im not using it and not worry about it getting stolen.

Hey... I have a 2002 which is a Gen 1.5 like yours. I ordered a Pioneer AVIC-D2 in-dash nav/DVD player. When I get it next week I'll post pics and reviews... I got it off ebay for $525. :)

Eclipse is good, but more expensive. :) I think Pioneer's UI looks a bit better, though.

Heh, the Pioneer AVIC-D2 is identical to the D1 hardware-wise, but the D2 has a newer software version. However if you got the discs from the D2 and put them in the D1, it'll upgrade the software up to the equivalent of the D2.

BTW, my D2 works wonderfully. I absolutely love it!

This is true, which makes it easier on installation. I'm getting the Eclipse AVN-5510 with the bluetooth adapter for christmas. Finally changing out the stock deck. I'm also getting an Inifiniti 4ch amp, components, and 6x9's. I can't wait to get them so I can install them :D Later, I plan on buying and installing a Fosgate P500-1bd amp and single 15" Fosgate P3D215 sub. I made a custom 3/4" MDF ported sub enclosure I built myself specifically tuned for it. Damn, I'm getting anxious, I haven't had subs in the ride since like '02!
