Hey guys, I have a 99 solara SE stock. I have no clue if i have the JBL system or not, however, I want a new HU, around the 100 $ range. Ipod compatible, with a aux input. I looked around here, and crutchfield, however, I want your inputs. ALso, i want to try and save money, so im going to do the install myself.

One quick way... Check your speaker grilles; if all of them have the words JBL on it, voila. If you don't, it doesn't... But then again there isn't a huge difference in installing the HU between JBL and non-JBL HUs though. The install is fairly easy; good luck finding an HU.

Yeah, what he said, to tell if there is JBL or not. As far as a HU goes, I'd say go with Pioneer or Alpine. This would be a good unit, I'm pretty sure that an iPod cable is available for it. I have a Kenwood unit with iPod, but I wish I had gotten something like this:
