Okay so spring is on its way. I am planning to install the audio from my last car into my 99 Solara SE V6. Here is what I have thus far:

• Alpine CDA9885 HU
• Rockford Fostgate Punch 801S
-2400 Watts Amplifier Type Dual Channel
-RMS Power at 4 Ohms 200 W x 2
-RMS Power at 2 Ohms 400 W x 2
• Sony XPlods (Sony XS-L121P5)

Coming Soon:

• Alpine SPR 17S 6.5" Components
• Alpine SPR 69C 6x9's for the rear deck

Just wanted some opinions on what people think of this set up. I am hoping not to have to buy a new wiring kit as I have the original one from my last ride( 86' Monte Carlo T-Top  )

I have never done an install before but downloaded a bunch of guides from crutchfield and have been tapping the infinite knowledge from my fellow SoalaraGuy forum members. Im hoping I wont have too much trouble. It seems like Im going to get real familiar with a sound dampening kit from what I have heard. Any thoughts, suggestions, ideas and quid pro quos are welcome :D

You will find tutorials here on SG about this and where to run the cables.

I did it myself this winter,
it was my first subwoofer/amp add on a car, and my 3rd HU install.

It was "easy", just some hard time to push the cable trough the firewall.

my friend got the type r coaxial speakers and honestly they were extremely disappointing for the price. Even amped they didnt get all that loud and werent very pleasant to the ears. their components may be better but personally I would try some other options

stick with the components, and i agree that the R coaxials are garbage.
