I don't have much good things to say about Xplod Series.

This series is what made people call SONY "Skip ON You"

that fact that they come back all the time with numerous problems, the outputs are very distorted, the preamp sections are noisy and dirty. The motors on those things go all the time, its a very cheap radio, even in their best unit, all you gain is a colorfull screensaver, but dont leave it on too long cause it will burn the image in, and not to mention, from the entry level to the high end they use the same 1 bit D/A converter. Its a bad rip off. :(

Just from personal experience, I dont think much of em. Time has proven over and over, that they are bad unit that tend to fail. I hope I dont jink your radio.
Some people might get offended if they own sony, so i didnt want to upset you, i know you didnt build or design it, :D

Ok gunman, talk to me man. You're a fellow NJer, what's your suggestion? I haven't ordered one yet, I have to wait until next week anyway.. (when I get paid)

Alpine, Clarion, Kenwood - where would you point me?

Thanks for your input.

(and I'm trying to go $300 or less - if that helps)

Ok, what do you have in mind? Are you gonna upgrade speakers? Will you be adding amps? Perhaps sat radio down the line. Of course I know what half you guys must be thinking since they know me so well..... here we go with the kenwood again. haha :D

Well, here's my situation.

I'm married, so my wife won't let me do anything but the head unit itself. Maybe (maybe) down the line I might get nicer speakers, but highly unlikely.

So compared to you guys and your custom rides, I have ye olde "bone stock" model. This would be my single upgrade - well in this case - the item not covered by my wrap warranty. (sob sob)

Talk to me.

:)

(and I DO appreciate it - thanks for your time)
