I would like to put a subwoofer in my solara but I am not sure what I have to do. Would I need to get an aftermarket radio or would I be able to hook it up directly to my factory stereo?

Aftermarket is the way to go for audio, the JBL stock system is decent but I installed all infinity ref. series speakers up front with a 4 channel infinity amp, and 2 alpine type r's in the back with 2 v12 amps, and a fosgate cap. much better then stock

Stock JBL with aftermarket amp and sub. I will be changing Everything this summer because the stock JBL system is garbage.

I can see it being better in the coupes because those cars have decent 6x9's in the rear, where as my convertible came with little 3.5" speakers in the rear quarters with a crappy 8" sub hidden in the trunk that was blown.

Cant wait to get some nice weather and get started on that.
