Rear Speakers

Postby lilray9 » Fri Feb 13, 2009 8:48 pm

HI I have a 2000 Toyota Solara and I Hear that one of my rear speakers has blown out and now I am trying to change it and I can't find a way to get to them. What do I need to do to get to them?

haha.. its going to take a while.

for me,
rear seat being down
i took of the rear seat belt.. up top (by speaker)
took off passenger handles so i can pull the sides off (rear armrest)
pulled it off a little.
if you cant take the rear speaker cover.. (the whole thing) then take off the upper piller. i think it is the c-piller. then you should be able to take out the rear cover. and now take off the bolts holder the speakers in.

haha

the rear deck was huge PITA for me. Replace them with something good so you don't have to go through that mess again

6 x 9's are correct, IMO would make new speaker mountin' brackets.

I HAD TO TAKE OFF THE REAR SIDE PANNELS TO GET THE DECK COVER OFF AND BELIEVE ME AFTER YOU DO IT ONCE YOU WILL NEVER WANT TO DO IT AGAIN SO BE SHURE TO MAKE ANY UPGRADES WHILE YOUR IN THERE.I DID MY DINOMAT AND RAN ALL MY AMP WIRING.IF YOU ARE PUTTING IN HIGH END SPEAKERS YOU MIGHT WANT TO INSTALL BAFFLES TO PROTECT THEM, BUT ONLY IF YOU PLAN ON INSTALING A SUB BECAUSE THE BAFFLES WILL REMOVE THE LOW DB

Been in-and-out of my '04 three times. Yes, it takes some dis-assembly, but that's stereo installation for you! :-?

...been there... done that...

Best to "take it down" and do it right... unless you PLAN on being in there again! I'm still not settled with my deck, and will surely be into it at LEAST one more time, and sides will come out in rear seat, at least partially...

yeah, it's a pain.

Yep yep, I know the joy of gutting out the backseat all to well. Atleast half a dozen times or so. The first time is gona be the toughest. Most recently, Im doing a mold of the bottom quarter panels to possibly intergrate a sub.

maybe, but doing it yourself is half the fun :D LEE337's pic speaks LOTS of truth. I can't remember how many people looked at me funny cuz i had seat cushions on the roof of my car and next to it :P

Every aftermarket 6x9 i have seen has 4 bolt/screw holes. For these cars the have only 3, that is for the front and the back. So be prepared for the cost to go up due to what someone had said before, mounting brackets. Unless a friend is doing it. Then shake on the price before he does it.lol
