Advice on buying subwoofer

I want to add some bass to my car - stock JBL speakers and Pioneer DEH-2100IB. The below is what I came up with. Budget is about $250.

Amplifier ($140): Sony XMZR1852 800W 185x2 RMS

Subwoofer ($40): Pioneer TS-W302R 12" 800W 150W RMS - I'm thinking either one or two of these.

Plus wiring kit ($20) and enclosure.

How loud is this going to be? I don't want to spend all of this money and have a setup that isnt very loud or noticeable. Any feedback would be great.

Thank you!

IMO, in order to be noticeable, your system should put out more than 200W RMS.

you have the amp but look for higher quality subs. $40 isnt gonna cut it if you want quality

Honestly unless you are buying used. $250 is not enough for a subs system. I figure you would be better off buying some good rear speakers with some bass response. My car has Infinity Kappa 6x9s in the rear, got em new from crutchfield.com for $110. People ask me all the time what kind of subs I've got, I don't have any.
Trust me, I'm a technician.

My only rule when I buy is: Buy New!!!
Dont buy something of Ebay or a Pawn Shop or even a friends old sub.
Im a Alpine guy too, so thats what I get.......all though I do have a Pioneer HU, but thats about to change.

spend some money and get some components and a bit of dynamat. that will be the best for good clean sound.

for stupid boom boom bass, that will work but you will
be like every other guy in the world where you hear
the high hats and a boom followed.
Alpine + Dynaudio = Sonic bliss.

Thanks for all your help. I was also considering Sony 12" 1200W XSL121P5W 380W RMS Subwoofer. I'd buy one of these and use the same amp which has 400Wx1 RMS.

Or would I get louder sound using two of the 150W RMS 12" subs?[/url]

quality sub and can take 400 watts rms. i have 2 of these at 375
rms x2 @ 4ohm and i think its great. personally i stay away from sony car products but thats just me. this one is a few bucks cheaper too. if you hook it up to that amp you want you're in business
Kicker sound system, 17 inch MB Wheels on Continental ContiExtremeContact tires, more mods to come..

Yeah I looked at your links. Choose whatever you want but if you use crutchfield, just use them to see if the part fits. Then search away on other sites. I got my subs over 40% cheaper by finding them on another site.
