Kinda reminds me of my ex's Mercedes E class, I think it was an early 90's model. One day he had to change a tail light bulb. The entire unit just popped right out, no tools needed. I think it took a total of 2 minutes to take the light assembly out, change the bulb, and put it back on the car!

Its a nice unit. The only thing i worry about is the motor that moves the screen. They have a tendency to go out quickly. (or at least that is my experience with them. Thats what make me jump to JVC.

once you remove ash tray you should pull from bottom part forward.
I find it easier lifting up the plastic trim around shifter before doing this though.

once the bottom is out then unplug the ash tray light (just pull it out) and unplug cigarette lighter plugs (one of them just gets pulled off and the one for the light has a button which gets squeezed and pull out)

then you can finish remove plastic trim from around the radio and vents

behind vents there are two connectors...hazards and clock
remove those and you have access to stock radio screws (10 mm)

I dont remember buying any adapter for attenna though. the attenna plug my solara has fit directly into my head unit.

^^^ Thanks Kenny.

Actually, today I did a whole "trial run" of what's going to happen next Saturda, (I know, I'm quite eager). Everything came off with no problem... even the center counsel.

Why the center counsel you might ask?
Well, I plan to run an iPod wire into my center counsel arm-rest-box (in which I cut out an opening today) and keep my iPod in the arm rest. (instead of the glove box)

muahaha.

huh! they r out of stock... but thanx 4 the link.
what other HU would you recommend for gen 1?
actually I'm looking for the biggest screen with no buttons on the face if possible. Was looking at JVC 720 and JVC 7000 - what about these?

yeah our dashes come apart easy. Have fun with the new HU harness, I recommend soldering it if you can, but that's because I don't trust crimp connectors.

Oh guys, just a question; Do I need to purchase a new wire harness? or did someone mention something that is already in place because of the stock JBL set up?
