Cheap Amp VS No Amp???

Cheap Amp VS No Amp???

Postby nguyenSTX » Sat Oct 25, 2003 11:12 am

I wanted to know if getting a cheap amp is even worth it. I want to get an amp to power my Boston Acoustics components and 6X9. I planning to get a better amp in the future probly a B/A. I have an old JVC cd deck right now, but tha should be upgraded by christmas

One cheap amp I found pushes 220w x4 (so they say). That should push at least 60w right? ahhah.

what's the cheap amp that you found that does 200some X 4? i doubt it even does 60 x 4, but what is it? and since when are b/a amps anything special?

i'm sure a decent 60w x 4 rms amp would be ample power for your speakers, but you didn't really specify what you had...

I found it on ebay a Boss K980 4CH 1600W AMP.

The only reason i wanted a B/A amp is just so it same as the speaker, i know it makes no difference. haha

that's cheap as hell for a decent amp, i have a couple of em lying around, but the price difference would be minimal, so i won't bother trying to sell one to you

BAC (Boston Acoustics Corporation) does NOT make or sell car amps, they only produce speakers. If you spend $100 on a junk amp claiming 200W x 4, you are wasting that $100, might as well donate it to a charity so you can claim it during tax time.

DOH, you're right, I completely forgot about their new GT line of amps. This is their first time building/marketing amps. Good catch.

Get a HU with an onboard amp for right now, and when the $$ flow is good get a good amp.

i dunno...if its truly necessary to get an amp to push your speakers..i have an old alpine 4 channel v-12 amp pushing my speakers...i haven't heard much difference...and all the extra wiring just adds more to it...if you haven't added subs yet and are planning to later...than that might be a good time to do it all at once...but than again your bostons are probably better than my Fosgate fanatics....hmmm...if you plan on the future getting a better amp..save your money now and wait to get a better amp...
