You should be fine with the Alpine amp, of course, feeding the 10W7 with more power is always nice. I suggest go with a slot-ported box like this:

i'd recommend more power

you could pull if off using the same amp though with the right box (would end up being much bigger than the box u made i think-- you remmember how much making the box cost you?)

what were the specs (cu ft) on the box you made?

ill probably make another box if i decide to get it. my box for the alpine was 1.1 cubic feet and it cost me less than 20 to make. also, right now im running 300w rms at 2ohms, i think. the jl is 3 ohm.... is there a special way to wire it to make it 2 or does it not matter? kinda lost.

woops forgot it's 3ohms, and i have a 12w7 too :p
yeah, u'll need a new amp, u won't get much out of that amp at 3ohms, you cannot change the 3ohm final impedence unless you add a sub...
you could get it bumping with 200/250watts or however much you get out of the amp at 3ohms, but u would need a HUGE box, and it would only produce DEEP bass...

when/if you get a new amp, don't worry if it's only stable at 4ohms, if it's a decent amp, you won't have trouble at 3ohms

You need 3 and 1/2 of those amps to power that sub. If not, you will underpower it and damage the voice coil.
