yeah it is law, but i took off mine, still havent got pulled over, knock on wood, just in case something happens just say something happened to it and your going to fix it as soon as possible. I've been saying that someone backed into me and i had to get estimated, i've been saying that for a few months now, but im a Marine so they usually let me go with just a warning to fix it, just give them a excuse.

i've had mine off for over a year and have only been cited for it once after being pulled over for something else...

but yeah...it's law in CA to have a front plate, prob so those traffic cams can nab you...

I had my front bumper repainted and the holes covered up from when some 82 year old retard backed up into it.

I've been saying that my car just came out the shop and I'm waiting on the license plate bracket to come in so I can install it......only happened to me twice so thats what I've been using.

.....bottom line is....if your car is not outrageously noticable and your not driving like a lunatic......cops won't bother unless there a real @$$hole.

Hope our insight gives you some key points to look out for if you decide to remove the front plate.

I got pulled over twice for not having the front plate. The plate was the only reason for the pullover. The fine is minimal, i think it was under 30

^^^^ thats the samething as not having a front plate on your car.

........having a plate that just says TRD or just the Toyota logo to replace your front plate is not gonna change anything and because it is not the plate your local DMV issued the vehicle for identification......unless the cops around your area are truely morons that can't tell a real plate from a plate with just a logo on it.

has anyone here done the offset front plate? (jdm style)

seems to be the going thing for 240sx's and some civics and the such...
it would look pretty hot if the font and actual plate looked pimp (not flowers and birds and state symbols)

and since they dont do the front plates in florida... would i be retarded to get one just for the jdm styling? if i had a kit i would feel more comfortable about it.

I've actually done the offset thing after I cracked my bumper.

The license plate actually covered the crack

But it also looked pretty nice, EVO style
