Hi drivers!

Just purchased a new 2006 SLE convertible. Black w/ gray. Sweet. Looking for ways to boost horsepower - not into looks only. Any info along those lines would be welcome.

Hey there, welcome to the site, you'll find out all you want to know and then some...

Unfortunately there aren't many true hp boosting mods available for the Gen 2... The only two that I can recommend for you would be either of the two Short Ram Intakes available for the V6 (or the Injen intake for the I4) and the TRD Sport Muffler... Of the two intakes for the V6, the CP-e kit is a DEFINITE boost, where as the Injen is a kinda-sorta, however the CP-e isn't guaranteed to work properly on the 2006 yet (to my knowledge, this may have been updated). I have the CP-e on my '04 along with the TRD Muffler and it's a pretty wicked combo.

The biggest bang-for-your-buck performance mod available for the Gen 2 is the TRD Rear Sway Bar... It makes a HUGE difference in handeling, definitely worth it... Talk to Reggie (RGZTOY), he'll hook you up.

The only other way is to look into a turbo kit or nitros... The turbo kit will be expensive as hell (around $8-$10K for the I4, no such beast yet for the V6)...

Good luck!

Welcome to SG! Make sure you hook up in one of our SoCal meets and get acquainted! Fun group of people! :D

And as far as boosting your HP - good luck... along with the rest of us unfortunately. Like theprodigy79 said, about all you can hope to do is squeak a few out with the TRD Exhaust and the CP-e short ram air (they should be going on the market soon - just do a search and you'll read all about it!).
